For these transactions, you are supposed to use the actual foreign exchange rate that was in effect on the day of the transaction. The other cause of foreign currency tribulations is properly calculating the gain or loss on the sale of foreign stocks, bonds, or even real estate. While the average rate method is certainly more convenient, it may be worth the trouble of hunting down those historical rates as it might save you some tax. Using the actual rate would result in Sarah reporting income of $3,655, a reduction in income of $241 compared with the “average rate. The taxpayer wanted to know if she could ignore the average annual rate for the year and use the actual exchange rates she received from her bank when she deposited her foreign pension and investment income into her Canadian bank account. Article contentīut just because the average annual exchange rate is convenient, does it mean that you have to use that rate for the year? Just over a decade ago, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) was asked whether a taxpayer was required to use the Bank of Canada annual average exchange rate to convert pension and investment income to Canadian dollars. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Note that if you had foreign taxes withheld on foreign dividends paid to your TFSA, you cannot claim a foreign tax credit for those taxes, which is why it’s best to hold foreign (including U.S.) dividend paying stocks outside a TFSA. For the new proxy workflow with FCPX 10.4.9 and Final Cut Pro 10.5 see my new blog post Update: This proxy workflow applies to Final Cut Pro 10.4.8 and earlier. Note: I want to explain how our current workflow for editing remotely. I am always testing new tools and methods, so workflows change all the time. This is a snapshot in time of what we are trying now. We use Hedge to copy camera cards to multiple drives on set (or after a shoot if on location) and then we use Hedge once more to copy one of these drives to the office shared storage (Apple’s Xsan). Why use Hedge? A nice simple app which hides its complexity well. Hedge has an easy interface to copy multiple sources (camera cards, usually) to multiple destinations (two external drives, or two SAN locations etc), and it does it well. It verifies, and double checks its work and leaves receipts. This is very nice and very useful for troubleshooting. It also has an API which made it easy to build an app that configures Hedge for its current task, and AppleScript support for extending automations after specified actions. We are using two other tools in our remote ingest workflow currently: Kyno from Lesspain software for rewrapping and converting camera footage and Postlab, the remote collaboration tool for Final Cut Pro (and Premiere Pro). Testing with other tools is always ongoing and during a recent test of the workflow we also tried EditReady from Divergent Media. If you’re new to EditReady, you can download a trial version here and then decide to purchase a Single License for $79.įor more information about this release, please visit Hedge’s blog here.ĭo you already use EditReady for transcoding? What do you think of this 22.Making re-wrapped in MOV files from the original camera MXF files using Kyno and then.Hedge to copy camera cards two external drives on set, and then Hedge copy the drive to Xsan. While we are exploring various workflow automations we are currently doing the following steps manually. The update is free for all existing users who renewed their license or have purchased a new one within the past 12 months. This improvement also applies to BRAW files shot on the Leica SL2-S, which recently gained the ability to output 12-bit RAW data over HDMI. Image credit: Leicaįinally, Hedge claims that transcoding of Blackmagic RAW files is now faster with EditReady 22.3. EditReady exploits the math behind it to properly convert ARRIRAW files from the ALEXA 35 into an edit-friendly codec of your choice. This includes a new gamma curve (LogC4) and wide-gamut color space (AWG4). Along with the camera, ARRI introduced the new REVEAL color science. Freshly released at the end of May, the company’s new flagship Super 35 mm cinema camera features a completely redesigned 4.6K sensor with an astonishing claimed dynamic range of 17 stops. The biggest change in this release is the introduction of additional batch options for processing. This release adds a number of features to streamline proxy media workflows. It supports a lot of video sites and they can be surfed anonymously with full video streaming support. Moreover, the 22.3 update welcomes the new ARRI ALEXA 35 to the list of supported cameras. EditReady 1.3 is a major update, which adds a number of exciting features and improves performance. CroxyProxy is reliable and free web proxy service that protects your privacy. According to Hedge, the software makes use of Canon’s own color science to provide an accurate conversion. This enables better handling of the footage during the editing process. EditReady users can now transcode this RAW data into a mezzanine file format, such as ProRes. This can be found on a vast range of Canon products, going from high-end cinema models (such as the C500 Mark II, C300 Mark III, and C200) to the 8K-capable EOS R5 C mirrorless camera. The new EditReady 22.3 introduces support for Canon’s own compressed file format, called Canon Cinema RAW Light. Image credit: ARRI EditReady 22.3: now supporting Canon Cinema RAW Light and ALEXA 35 Indeed, it embraces the popular Canon Cinema RAW Light format as well as the long-awaited ARRI ALEXA 35. The latest version of the software further expands the list of supported file types. Now, the company is introducing EditReady 22.3. Just a few months ago, EditReady 22.2 brought support for Sony Uncompressed RAW and X-OCN formats, along with the new Color Conversion panel. It allows users to convert original footage from a variety of different camera models into more manageable, edit-friendly files. The update is available now and is free for all existing users.ĮditReady is an increasingly popular transcoding solution developed by Hedge. Hedge has recently released EditReady 22.3 with added support for Canon’s compressed RAW format and ARRI’s flagship Super 35 mm camera, the ALEXA 35. keyboard_arrow_rightCameras of the Year.keyboard_arrow_rightGear Guides by Type.keyboard_arrow_rightGear Guides by Budget. It also has a very balanced sound signature and for its size it can get pretty loud. Like i said earlier the Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus shoots music out in all 360 degrees and it does a great job of evenly blanketing an area. When it comes to sound quality these speakers are also very different. And concerning buttons both of these speakers allow you to control your music and use your voice assistant, but if you want to see that in action check out their individual reviews. You cant submerge the XB40 either but it is a little more durable than the Bose. But the Sony SRS-XB40 is IPX5 certified while the Bose is IPX4 certified which means the Bose will be fine if it gets splashed by a little water but if you submerge it or hose it down it’ll get damaged. Bose on the other hand advertises a 16 hour battery life on their speaker but after using it i’ve managed to achieve an 8 to 10 hour battery life. Sony advertises a battery life of 24 hours but with real world use we’re looking at a battery life of around 15 hours. They also both have rechargeable batteries. Concerning wireless range the Sony XB40 will give you around 50 feet while the Bose Revolve will only give you 30 feet, 40 if you're lucky and with direct line of sight. You never know when these will go on sale.Ĭoncerning tech, both of these speakers are using bluetooth 4.2 and can connect to multiple devices at the same time. I’ll have links in the description below if you want to pick either of these speakers up and I’ll keep them updated the best i can so you can get the best deal possible. The Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus comes in 2 color ways triple black and Lux Gray and retails for $299 over at amazon. The Sony SRS-XB40 comes in 3 color ways Black, Blue, or Red and retails for $248 over at amazon. Subscribe to the channel so you can get notified when that review drops.Ĭoncerning price and colors both the Sony SRS-XB40 and Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus come in multiple color ways. Unless you’re interested in the JBL Pulse 3 which should be releasing in a few days. And if you’re in the market for a new wireless speaker these are fairly new offerings. But You wanna know what isn't so different? The price! Although the Sony SRS-XB40 is much larger than the Bose and has a few other tricks up its sleeve, theres only a $50 difference between the two. Now if the lights aren’t your thing you can turn them off by pressing this button on the back of the speaker. The Bose SoundLink Revolve Plus and Sony SRS-XB40 are two very different looking wireless speakers. Personally, I usually just use the light mode that it’s already on to begin with. There is an option to change the lights to your liking within the Sony App and you can get extremely specific with what color or mode you want the speaker to be on. Of course we still have these really cool LED light strips that flash different colors and now the woofers and tweeters on the front of the speaker have their own sets of lights that flash independently from one another as you can see here. We still have this durable fabric that covers most of the body that can deteriorate over time if you’re rough with the speaker so keep that in mind, and we also have these new passive radiators on each side similar to the JBL speakers which looks really incredible. It’s definitely larger in size than the XB41 which makes it less portable and it weighs in at 6.5 pounds which means you’re going to have a tough time trying to fit this thing in a bag. Now the XB43 definitely got a design boost and I think it looks really premium. Now for some reason the XB42 was never released from Sony so they just skipped to 43 which is really interesting. First off, I want to mention that there are definitely some noticeable differences to the build of the XB43 vs its predecessor the Xb41. If you are using the Brave browser, or have installed the Ghostery add-on, these programs send extra traffic to our servers for every page on the site that you browse, then send that data back to a third party, essentially spying on your browsing habits. We strongly recommend you stop using this browser until this problem is corrected. The latest version of the Opera browser sends multiple invalid requests to our servers for every page you visit. The most common causes of this issue are: All the missions and speech are present, though (except during movies of course).Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. Note: the manual download here contains keyboard commands, as well as mission tree information to help you make more sense of multiple choices during movies, which all show up as black screen in this CD-rip. If you regard the game as a plot-driven Wing Commander game than a true heir of, Privateer's free-wheeling spirit, you will have a blast. Overall, The Darkening is a great game with top-notch graphics and acting (missing from this CD-rip download to to huge size - multiple CDs original). Despite a smaller gameworld, there are more ships to pilot and destroy, and more planets you can land on. This means you will be treated with great-looking 3D graphics, and a great flight engine that would set the new standard for all subsequent Wing Commander games. The Darkening does offer some big improvements over the original, although it is naturally to expect that: technology in 1996 is naturally superior to what Origin had in 1993. The game is also plagued with more than a few bugs, a sign that Origin rushed it out the door before it was 100% ready. Playing the same missions over and over in The Darkening, is naturally much more boring, so you would be less likely to re-install it after you beat the game. This feature is part of what makes the first Privateer so replayable. One big blow that significantly reduces the replayability of Privateer 2 is the absence of RMG, Random Mission Generator. There are also other oversights that will irk fans of Privateer. There are still enough profiteering opportunities (buying & selling cargo between planets, for example), but the extent of freedom is much less compared to the original. Which is not a bad thing, except that one would expect the game titled Privateer 2 to be a true sequel to Privateer and maintain its freelancing spirit. This limited freedom makes the game feel much more like a Wing Commander game than a Privateer game. Since Origin went the FMV route, where most missions are introduced and the plot unfolded via movie clips, this means the gameworld is much smaller than in Privateer, and the game much more linear. So why is The Darkening inferior to Privateer? The answer, I think, is that the game loses the carefree, go-anywhere-you-want feel of the original game. Far from it: it is fun, it has the best flight engine thus far in a Wing Commander game (until later releases like Prophecy anyway), it boasts excellent production value including an impressive cast (including Christopher Walken and John Hurt), it has an intriguing 'space opera' plot, and it offers dozens of challenging and lengthy missions. Which is not to say the The Darkening is a bad game. Privateer 2: The Darkening is an excellent sequel to Origin's classic Wing Commander: Privateer, although Origin made the unfortunate decision to sacrifice gameplay depth in favor of slick full-motion video sequences a la Wing Commander III. Personally, Epiduo was very drying at the start so even if I used it with intermissions, I dropped Effaclar duo because it seemed like too much. The formula does have quite a strong, fresh scent to it, which not everyone will like as it smells quite clinical. Also, my derm initially told me to use Effaclar duo and Epiduo forte on alternating days as well as a moisture barrier aiding cream Effaclar H by La roche posay. Smooth and thick, the consistency makes it mess-free to use, but it doesn't feel at all suffocating on the skin. Just like the original, the Effaclar Duo + Unifiant has a lightweight, gel-creme texture and absorbs quickly, leaving a soft, velvety feel to the skin. Providing a semi-matte finish, it's perfect for anyone who struggles with oil production throughout the day, but doesn't want their skin to look dry and caked in heavy, matte makeup. The silky cream is easily buildable, without the coverage turning patchy or starting to flake off. I wouldn't say the coverage is as strong as the likes of a BB cream, but it definitely minimizes some redness and gives the complexion more of a uniformed colour. Instantly, the skin is gently evened-out with a sheer veil of coverage. For those who prefer a totally flawless makeup look, the Effaclar Duo + Unifiant may be disappointing, as it definitely doesn't camouflage the skin completely. When wanting to look a bit more 'done', I like to layer the tint and then use concealer over the top, so it acts more like a primer. For a 'no makeup' day, it makes the perfect base, as it really doesn't look like you're wearing any makeup at all. Ideal for when you're breaking out and don't want to mask your skin in heavy makeup, this product gives you a little boost of confidence, so you don't have to go completely bare-faced, whilst acting to treat any imperfections. My actual discharge date was February 11, so I actually overlapped for ten days. I started terminal leave on January 30, 2006, and I started my new job with Baker Atlas on February 2, 2006. I used low frequency sound energy to help locate, evaluate, and exploit petroleum reserves both on land and offshore. My first position through Orion was in the oil and gas service industry as a Seismic Engineer. And that is to learn how to succeed in your new field. You find yourself trying so hard to impress that sometimes you forget your new mission. So, with all this training and experience, I understood sonar systems and how to make them work but to be honest, starting a new job with different performance metrics and expectations was nerve-wracking. I spent my shore time at Naval Submarine Base New London at the Naval Submarine School (staff and student) and in the Naval Nuclear Power Training Program at Weapons Station Charleston, South Carolina (student). My seagoing tours were at Naval Submarine Base Bangor, Washington, onboard USS NEVADA (SSBN-733(B)), and at Naval Station Ingleside, Texas, with MCM CREW BULWARK (onboard USS CHIEF AND USS SENTRY). I served both as a Mineman Third class (MN3) and as a Sonar Technician Third Class (STS3). Leaving the Navy after seven years was frightening when you consider that the Navy was really the only job (or practical experience) that I had held to that point. Facing the uncertainty associated with change is the hardest part of transitioning out of the military. Crossing the brow for the last time and being rung ashore was one of the most bittersweet moments of my life, and I still look back on that as the day my world changed. The worst that could happen is that you have to reinstall the game, so use caution. It has worked for me many times with previous PTU cycles (only difference being the folder names). Please let me know if you have any issues with this trick. I.e., I am not sure if the launcher is able to downgrade.Įxample: If you start with build 2000000 in live, upgrade to ptu.2100000, do not switch back to live before 2100000 (or greater) is released in live. I do not advise attempting to switch back to live after installing the PTU update before the installed build has also been releases as live. Now you can open the launcher, switch to the PTU channel, and install the update. Note that if you use a different installation folder, you may have to use that in place of C:\Program Files (x86)\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen in the steps above. Now open the LIVE folder, and you will see the same file. You can also try creating a new file, say test.txt. If you open it via double-click, you should see the same contents as in the LIVE folder. The PTU folder should show a little arrow icon similar to a shortcut.
